For years now, children have been enlisted to fight in Africa. The film Blood Diamond was set in Sierra Leone. but I know that this brand of child abuse has been taking place all over war torn Africa. I was referring to the US ally Somalia.

Of course I knew that the rebels were snatching kids off soccer fields and brain washing them to fight, but I didn’t know that the legitimate US supported government was doing the same. Us officials couldn’t deny that US funds were being used to arm children. That’s disturbing.

My sister was in Zaire years ago in the Peace Corps, teaching English to young children. The military came to her classes one day and grabbed the young boys and took them off to indoctrinate them and militarize them. They knew if they’d gone to the childrens’ homes, their parents would have hidden them, so they nabbed them where they were learning. I still get goosebumps on my arm to think about that.
