Ball point pen on today's newsprint

In July of 1981, as a young art student studying in Paris, I traveled to London for a long weekend. As it happened, it was the weekend before Prince Charles and Princess Diana were to wed. It's impossible to describe the extent to which every square inch in London was saturated with the royal couple. Their likeness was on store mannequins, every newspaper and souvenir. To me at least, it seemed like over saturation. Ever curious, I had to ask "Do Brits ever feel like it's over the top?"
I think I insulted our bed and breakfast host. "Oh no, that's our future king you're talking about."
