Ball point pen on today's newsprint From what I've observed, voters are more nuanced than Romney gives them credit for. In fact, voters regularly vote against their own self interest. Blue states tend to earn more, pay more taxes and get less from government, while red states tend to earn less and receive more federal dollars per tax dollar collected. Romney is revealing himself to be a shallow thinker with deep pockets that's willing to write off a large section of the population that might have otherwise voted for him and republicans are starting to distance themselves. Read MoreBall point pen on today's newsprint I'm reminded of a Bazooka Joe comic from my youth. We see Joe searching for something under a streetlight. Jane asks what he's doing. Joe points far away into the darkness and tells Jane that he's lost something over there. Naturally Jane asks why he's looking here, if he lost something over there? to which Joe responds "Because the light is much better here." The two major candidates for president always want to appear in the best light by controlling the message of the campaign. The candidate that's able go off script, think on their feet and venture into the reality of darkness will appear engaged but risks loosing control of the message. The one that continues to search in the light, may be in control but will appear very much out of touch. Stay tuned ...
