Singer, actress, civil rights activist Lena Horn has died. Winner of eight Grammys and a Tony award, she was the first African American singer to be signed by a major Hollywood studio. She was 92.
I was sad to hear this on the news this morning as I headed to work. Beautiful portrait of her--she was a truly unique individual, and so talented. She made a lot of strides for black women in particular. I always loved her...I had no idea she was 92 until I heard this today!
